1.58 million copies were sold, according to Starbreeze.
The recent first person heist-em-up Payday 2 hasn’t done badly for Starbreeze – we’d already heard that it was profitable more than a week before release, but new figures released this weekend reveal most of those sales weren’t on shop shelves.
In a memo to their investors (as picked up by Eurogamer) Starbreeze announced that in the course of the game’s first month on sale, it had managed to sell 1.58 million copies, and 80% of those sales were, in fact, digital.
Sadly there’s no specific breakdown as to how many of these sales were on Xbox 360 compared to Steam or PS3, but it certainly marks a turnaround given Game Director of Payday Dave Goldfarb’s previous statements that the game was “too big for Xbox Live”.
